Rox Corbett, an accomplished artist, desires to create an emotional connection between her subjects and the viewer - portraying the soul, spirit and expressions of the animals she draws.

Her preferred medium is charcoal, which allows her to pare her drawings down to the basic elements of light, dark, texture, detail and composition.  "Charcoal is the most primitive of media, but its warmth, depth and versatility are tactile and mysterious."  Through her methods she is able to recreate a photo-realistic feel of whatever she is drawing, be it horse hide, denim, fur, leather or steel.

Rox's work relates to the viewer in an intimate way.  "My drawings belong to no historical era, but are portraits of our animal partners and the wildlife with which we share this planet."
