Ellouise, designer and artist of Ellouise Originals, has continued her family's traditions
of jewelry making that have been passed down for many centuries. Born and raised in the Kewa Pueblo of New Mexico (formerly known
as Santo Domingo Pueblo), Ellouise started designing and creating jewelry at the young age of ten. Ellouise continues to be inspired by
her Pueblo's traditional Heishi (Hee-Shee) bead making techniques. Since 6,000 B.C., Kewa Pueblo Indians have been known to be the most
proficient in the heishi making process, the oldest form of jewelry in New Mexico. As she creates her jewelry, her son and daughter
are by her side, learning the family traditions and stories. Ellouise is honored to be continuing in her family and Pueblo heritage.
Known for her authentic handcrafted designs, her "Reversible Necklace Collection" has propelled Ellouise to the top of her field. Today,
an award winning artist, her work is featured in many museums, fine art shows and galleries throughout the country.
Big Horn Galleries is proud to carry several unique pieces by Ellouise. (Please feel free to call for information on additional pieces
